February and March 2008 Cruise News
I
missed a month and no one complained. Does that mean you don't read these
or are you just too busy getting ready for summer? We don't have much to
report for either month but a few things happened that were worthy of a photo
or two.

We
had lots of snow in February and March. |
Eagles
started hanging around looking for food anywhere. This immature eagle
was eyeing some fish left on this troller. |
A
couple of days were cold enough to create some beautiful icicles. |
The
steam is condensation from our heater. |
We
dog sat with Tipper while her parents were in Hawaii basking in the
sunshine. Tipper and Chuck enjoying the beach on a nice day. |

Tidepooling
together. She follows him everywhere. |

The
sun was shining for several days in late March so we decided to go out for a
few days. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of some herring fishing but
they postponed it for a few days. Seems one seiner caught so much
herring it was taking days to pump the herring from the seiner into the
processor. |

processor takes their vehicle with them. |

We
saw lots of "herds" of sealions which Fish and Game use as a sign
there are herring around. |
And,
of course, whales are feeding on the herring also. It was a beautiful
sunny, warm day. |

We
anchored for the night at one of our favorite anchorages because of this
view. |
The
next morning we woke up to this. The wonder of Alaska weather.
You never know what to expect from one day to the next. |
At
first glimpse, this looked like ice on the water but it was just snow
accumulation. |

quiet, serene view from the saloon. |

This
is the same processor (with the car on the back) that we passed
yesterday. It's snowing in the harbor. |
Well,
that is our report for February and March 2008. I've scaled back work to
3 days a week in anticipation of weather dry enough to do some outside cleaning
on the boat. We'll have to see. We are leaving for our summer
cruise in early to mid May. Our first set of guests arrive at Elfin Cove
in Icy Strait in late May. Can't wait!!!
